Care of Vintage Porsche Cars

It is important to take extra measures to properly care for and clean your vintage Porsche. Cars like this can be more vulnerable to the elements. They are also often near and dear to their owners, necessitating special attention when cleaning and detailing them.

There have been new developments in vintage car care techniques. Continue reading to apply the latest findings to the maintenance of your vintage vehicle. Consulting and working with experts such as David Mohlman here at DJM consultants can also provide a wealth of information on how to keep your vintage Porsche looking great and operating at peak performance. With more than three decades of experience with these automobiles, he can provide a specific maintenance and car plan for your vintage Porsche. Cars that are collectable and coveted are our passion.

Some steps to follow and points to keep in mind:

  • Wash the car in the shade, or at least out of direct sunlight and use a good quality car wash detergent. Use as little as necessary to get the job done.
  • Begin with the wheels, using the detergent. Be aware of special wheel cleaners that contain ingredients, such as acid, that will be too harsh.
  • After washing, be sure to rinse with clean, cool water. With convertible Porsches, it is typically unnecessary to wash the soft top every time.
  • Use a cotton, lint-free chamois or towel to dry the car. Be sure there are no fibers or water droplets left; be thorough. This will preserve the wax.
  • Fix any dings or deal with any paint issues before waxing, then follow up with your preferred brand and method of waxing. Each owner has their own way they like to do this.
  • For the interior, use a synthetic spray cleaner for the vinyl or rubber. Do not spray directly on the material, instead spray a lint-free cloth and wipe.

Taking good care of your vintage Porsche is key to retaining its beauty and perfection. After you've purchased your car with us, you can expect ongoing support. Feel free to direct any care questions to the experts here at DJM Consultants.
